Good Sports: FIREWORKS DONATION
The city of Visalia, California, wasn’t sure if it would be able to afford its regular Fourth of July fireworks show this year—until it received a $10,000 donation from the Sikh community in nearby Fresno.
“Visalia considers this to be very generous and helpful,” Mayor Warren Gubler told NBC News. “We appreciate their show of patriotic support, as one of our newer groups of American citizens.”
Gurwin Singh Ahuja, executive director of the National Sikh Campaign, told HuffPost that Fourth of July brings Americans of all faiths together.
“To be honest with you, there’s no federal holiday or single holiday that includes the entire community like July 4th does,” he said.
