Good Sports: Business Leaders Invest in Major League Cricket
Satya Nadella, CEO of Microsoft, and Shantanu Narayen, CEO of Adobe, are among a group of mostly Indian-American business leaders who have invested $44 million in Major League Cricket (MLC) during its Series A and A1 fundraising round.
MLC has secured an additional commitment of $76 million over the next 12 months, allowing MLC to spend more than $120 million as it attempts to launch America’s first-ever professional Twenty20 cricket league.
According to MLC, the $120 million will be used primarily to build cricket stadiums and training centers to develop cricket stars in America.
MLC is building a stadium in Grand Prairie, Texas, that will seat up to 20,000 people and will be the base for U.S. national cricket team. The stadium, near Dallas, is expected to be completed by spring 2023.
