Good Sports: BIOPIC ON AMRITRAJ
In the ‘70s and ‘80s, before India produced a crop of worldclass doubles tennis players, Vijay Amritraj was the country’s biggest tennis star, winning 18 professional titles and achieving a world singles ranking of No. 16.
“Before Vijay, no Indian sportsman has been celebrated on the world stage in this manner,” said Rohit Khattar, chairman of Cinestaan Film Company, which has acquired the rights to an Amritraj biopic. The biopic is expected to show the challenges Amritraj faced in his early life and the impact of his parents on his success.
“Parents’ love, compassion, dedication, and hard work under the most trying circumstances can make a child’s dream come true, even if he or she is nowhere near good enough in anything,” said Amritraj, whose son, Prakash, is co-producing the film.
