Good Sports: BHULLAR WINS FIRST EUROPEAN TOUR TITLE
It took an eagle on the 17th hole for India’s Gaganjeet Bhullar to fend off a challenge from Australia’s Anthony Quayle and win the Fiji International championship, his maiden European Tour title.
Bhullar entered the final round with a one-shot lead, but found himself trailing Quayle, who shot a blistering nine-under 63, until the eagle propelled Bhullar to a one-shot win. He finished with a 14-under total of 274.
“I don’t want to sound arrogant or anything, but even before starting the week [in Fiji] I had a little feeling that I am going to have a good finish,” Bhullar told ESPN.com.
While Indian golfers have enjoyed plenty of success on the Asian Tour, Bhullar is only the sixth Indian to win on the European Tour.
