Good Sports: Another Top Finish for Pro Golfer Sahith Theegala
Sahith Theegala, a 24-year-old rookie on the PGA Tour, has once again come close to his first professional victory.
Going into the final hole of the Travelers Championship in Cromwell, Connecticut, Theegala had a one-stroke lead. But his tee shot landed in the bunker, leading to a disastrous double-bogey that left him in a tie for second place, two strokes behind winner Xander Schauffele.
It was Theegala’s second near-win on the PGA tour—he tied for third at the WM Phoenix Open in February after holding a late lead. A former three-time All-American at Pepperdine University, the California native knows he just has to keep playing well to earn his first victory.
“I don’t think there’s anything I’m going to be doing differently,” he said. “Just going to keep sticking to my process and loving every moment of it and, yeah, just keep it going from there.”
