Good Spoirts: Basketball Star Heading to Stanford
Ryan Agarwal, a high school basketball star from Coppell, Texas, received scholarship offers from a dozen universities, but the choice was easy for him: Stanford.
“I’ve always seen Stanford as an unreachable school,” he told The American Bazaar. “Once I started basketball I realized I could have a chance of going there. The day that they asked me to come for an unofficial visit was one of the best days of my life.”
Ranked No. 11 in Texas, the 6-foot-7 small forward weighs only 175 pounds and may need to gain weight to be a star at the next level. But being a clutch shooter from three-point range should take him far.
Agarwal, a junior who will graduate in 2022, became interested in basketball in elementary school when he watched his older sister play in high school. “She helped inspire me to be on varsity one day when I grow up and make an impact on the team,” he said.
