Fun Time: Chatting with AI Leads to Boring Date
Artificial intelligence is being used in many ways these days, but are single people also using AI to improve their chats with prospective dates?
A woman in Bengaluru claimed in a Reddit post that she went on a date with someone who seemed “really funny” and “super entertaining” during their chats. She was looking forward to the date, but when she met him, it just wasn’t the same.
“He could barely speak a proper sentence,” she wrote. “Not that he was shy or awkward. It was the opposite. He was extremely confident and extroverted. But all that language and wit disappeared.”
During the date, they discussed startups in Bengaluru and AI, and he talked about some of the AI tools he had been using. “Then he let it slip how he used AI even in his chats,” she wrote. “And he quickly changed the subject. That’s when I realized what had happened. The dude has been using AI in all his chats with me!! And in person he was dull and uninteresting.”
AI is everywhere these days, perhaps even on Reddit, as one of the responses to the woman’s post suggested: “That sounds really frustrating and disappointing. It’s disappointing when someone doesn’t match up to the expectations they set during online conversations. … It’s understandable to feel annoyed after investing time and energy into someone who didn’t turn out to be what you expected.”
