DID THAT REALLY HAPPEN?
1. A former Chicago Public Schools student was awarded $150,000 in a lawsuit settlement after alleging that she was forced to participate in a meditation program that involved Hindu rituals.
2. Indo-Canadian poet Rupi Kaur declined an invitation to attend a Diwali celebration hosted by Vice President Kamala Harris, citing the administration’s support of Israel’s military action in Gaza.
3. Balasubramanian Menon, a 97-year-old Kerala man, set a Guinness World Record for the longest career as a lawyer (male): 73 years and 60 days.
4.Entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy challenged former South Carolina governor Nikki Haley to a game of Monopoly, with the loser dropping out of the presidential race.
5. Data from the U.S. Customs and Border Protection indicated that about 42,000 Indians attempted to enter the U.S. illegally from Mexico in the last fiscal year, more than twice as many as the previous year.
(1, 2,3 and 5 really happened.)
