A Billionaire Feud: Vinod Khosla Versus Elon Musk

Elon Musk, the world’s richest man, reportedly travels with about 20 bodyguards. That’s not surprising, considering how much resentment he provokes on his social media platform X and elsewhere.

During a recent feud with Indian American billionaire Vinod Khosla, Musk posted a fake photo of a beach sign that read: “No plebs allowed. Property of Vinod Khosla.” It was a reference to the venture capitalist’s 16-year legal fight to restrict public access to a beach adjoining his private property in the Bay Area.

“You owe me an apology for spreading falsehoods,” Khosla responded. “I think this post of yours needs a community comment for being a fraudulent photo. I have never put up this sign or anything even remotely like this.”

Musk offered an insincere apology: “Sorry, I made a sign about you restricting access to a public beach. That was so extremely terrible. Please forgive me.”

In another exchange, after Khosla mistakenly posted that Argentina’s unemployment rate had soared to 52 percent under President Javier Milei and predicted similar woes under a second Trump presidency, Musk wrote, “You are dumb.”

Khosla had shared an article about Argentina’s rising poverty rates, and it was the poverty rate, not unemployment, that had reached 52 percent.

When Musk and others pointed out his error, Khosla doubled-down: “Poverty is gross underemployment. Too nuanced for macho brains to understand. My nuance vs. your outright posting of false pics? I get a community comment and yours didn’t. I thought you were above this kind of bias at X.”
