Priyanka set to enter Guinness Book!
Outrage over Shah Rukh Khan’s detention at US airport
The irony can’t be missed: On August 15, India’s Independence Day, Shah Rukh Khan was detained for questioning at the Newark, NJ airport for almost two hours, sending everyone into a tizzy. How could this happen to a star of his stature? SRK himself downplayed the incident saying that it’s a procedure that has to be followed when entering the US. “It’s no big deal,” came the predictable reaction from Salman Khan, while the rest of the film folks voiced their shock and dismay at the treatment meted out to their icon.
Incidentally, Salman cancelled his trip to New York to promote his latest film, Wanted, in the wake of the Newark incident.
SRK-Salman rivalry reaches a feverish ‘pitch’
The Shah Rukh Khan-Salman Khan rivalry may spill over to the cricket field with Salman showing an interest in bidding for one of the two new Indian Premier League (IPL) franchises that are to be auctioned ahead of the 2011 edition. SRK is already the owner of Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR). Rajasthan IPL team owner and good friend of Sallu, Shilpa Shetty said that if Salman does sign on, she would welcome him into the IPL family. Sanjay Dutt, too, has evinced interest in owning a team.
Talking of IPL, Punjab team owners Preity Zinta and Ness Wadia have parted ways on the personal front but are mature enough to remain together for professional reasons. Preity was quoted as saying that she was now single.
Swine Flu paranoia grips Tinseltown
Swine Flu paranoia has gripped Bollywood. It all started with Amitabh Bachchan revealing in his blog that bahu Aishwarya was down with high fever and flu-like symptoms, while the pretty patient herself continued to shoot for Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Guzaarish! Ash later reassured her friends and fans that she had an acute chest infection and was recovering well. Concerned industry colleagues, however, warned her not to push herself and to take it easy.
Meanwhile, in the wake of the swine flu scare, Saif Ali Khan opted to abort his travel plans. The chote nawab had made a hush-hush plan of taking off to Switzerland with girlfriend Kareena Kapoor, which was cancelled at the last moment.
Priyanka set to enter Guinness Book!
Priyanka Chopra is all set to enter the Guinness Book of World Records. Her feat? Well, the attractive actress has played as many as 12 different characters in Ashutosh Gowariker’s What’s Your Raashee? No actor has played so many different roles in cinema of any language, according to the producer who has sent the actress’ name to be officially entered in the Guinness Book. “If this does happen, it will be phenomenal,” said Priyanka excitedly.
By the way, there have been whispers of a supposed rivalry between Priyanka and Katrina Kaif, especially after rumours surfaced of the latter replacing the former in the Dostana sequel. But this seems hard to believe as the affable Priyanka is known to get along well with all her costars, male and female.
