Starring: Ranbir Kapoor, Priyanka Chopra, Zayed Khan
Director: Siddharth Anand
Music Directors: Vishal-Shekhar
Despite a wafer-thin plot and a weak script and narrative, Anjaana Anjaani makes a good watch primarily for two reasons—terrific performances by the lead pair and some wonderful moments in the post-interval portions when the story moves from New York to Las Vegas and San Francisco.
Normally, a couple in Indian cinema commits suicide in the end, but this love story is different. Kiara (Priyanka Chopra) and Akash (Ranbir Kapoor) meet as strangers on a bridge in Manhattan where they have both come to end their lives. While Kiara has had a failed relationship, Akash has had a failed business. One thing leads to another and they both finally decide to fulfill all their wishes in the 20 days they have before they take the final plunge on December 31. Are they able to pull off the suicide pact? Well?
Ranbir and Priyanka completely sink their teeth into their roles and come up with alluring performances. The two are a delight to watch as they manage to create some wild and whacky moments on screen. Zayed Khan is likeable. Tanvi Azmi is good as always. Vishal-Shekhar’s music is lovely with some great tracks, especially Tujhe bhula diya. The cinematography is amazing and the overall look of the movie is stylish.
Not a must-watch, Anjaana Anjaani nevertheless will keep you happily engaged for three hours. Just don’t dwell on the negative points.
