Movie Update
A biggie due for release in June is Shaad Ali's Jhoom Barabar Jhoom. Starring Amitabh Bachchan, Abhishek Bachchan, Preity Zinta, Bobby Deol and Lara Dutta, the film has all the makings of a blockbuster.
Three newcomers will make their debut in the two most hyped films of this year. While Farah Khan launches Deepika Padukone in her Om Shanti Om, Ranbir Kapoor and Sonam Kapoor take their first step into filmdom with Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Saawariya. Ranbir is Rishi and Neetu Kapoor's son while Sonam is Anil Kapoor's daughter.
Urmila Matondkar has done her first children's film titled Fun On The Run. An adaptation of a Ruskin Bond story, the film is Urmila's second literary adaptation after Pinjar.
Irrfan Khan, who did Warrior with the Britain-based Gujarati director Asif Kapadia, is all set to do his next film True North, set in Norway.
Movie mogul J.P. Dutta's lavish costume drama Umrao Jaan may have flopped miserably, but that has not deterred him from making another film that will once again take him back in time. The director says that he is thinking of reviving his dream project Aakhri Moghul. The film chronicles the life and times of the last Mughal emperor Bahadur Shah Zafar and his troubled relationship with his son.
It's official now. There will be a sequel to the blockbuster Gadar—Ek Prem Katha. Only, it will not be directed by Anil Sharma but by Guddu Dhanoa.
