Movie Update
Critically acclaimed actress Nandita Das has just completed shooting her first directorial venture, Firaaq... In Such Times. The film is in conversational language and features an ensemble cast in five different stories. Naseeruddin Shah, Raghuvir Yadav, Paresh Rawal, Deepti Naval and Tisca Arora are part of the cast. The film is about how violence affects our lives.
The slated big releases of June are Ram Gopal Varma’s Sarkar Raj, Kunal Kohli’s Thoda Pyaar Thoda Magic, Nagesh Kukunoor’s Aashayein and Goldie Behl’s fantasy thriller Drona starring Abhishek Bachchan and Priyanka Chopra.
Aditya Chopra of Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jaayenge fame returns to direction after a hiatus of eight years with a movie titled Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi starring Shah Rukh Khan. The hunt is on for two newcomers to play the leading ladies. However, rumor has it that Deepika Padukone and Sonam Kapoor have been roped in for the coveted roles.
Taare Zameen Par writer Amol Gupte now wants to do a film on roller-skating. In fact, he’s already titled it India Item, and the director wants Salman Khan to play the lead. The actor has yet to give his nod to the project.
There are reports that Katrina Kaif’s sister Isabel will be introduced opposite Salman Khan in the movie Veer.
