Movie Review
Starring: Saif Ali Khan, Rani Mukherjee, Victor Banerjee
Director: Siddharth Anand
Music Director: Vishal-Shekhar
After that avant-garde Salaam Namaste, director Siddharth Anand returns with a family drama that is rooted in the good old days of formula films and packed with the power of Formula 1 racing. Never mind that it has taken inspiration from Hollywood. What is original these days, anyway!
A heart-warming story of a family that cheers together as daddy dearest burns the race track and all is hunky dory till fortunes turn. They climb down from their swanky apartment in Manhattan to downmarket New York. But they resolve never to lose heart and to keep smiling, eventually forcing Dame Luck to smile on them again.
With a cast comprising Saif Ali Khan and Rani Mukherjee, you already have a winner. They lend a spiritedness to their characters that makes them a joy to watch. Add to it some poignant moments, some zingy music and the urban American backdrop with a dash of Disneyland too and you have the perfect holiday fare, especially for your kids.
The film is even laced with a social message that could be an eye-opener for the new-age family man who bites off more than he can chew on the strength of his credibility to buy loans and power to swipe credit cards. It's a lesson for all you reckless spenders out there.
