MOVIE UPDATE
The Bollywood release calendar that was planned for 2020 has gone awry. Even if the situation improves in India, big budget movies depend on overseas market for approximately 40 per cent of their revenue, and understandably they won’t risk that unless cinemas open in the US, UK, and Australia.
Even if people start stepping out of their homes, it will be a long time before movie watching in cinemas goes back to normal.
The buzz is that Bollywood biggies will not release till October-November 2020. We will just have to wait and see.
Janhvi Kapoor-Rajkummar Rao’s Roohi Afzana, John Abraham’s Mumbai Saga, and newcomer Siddhant Chaturvedi’s (of Gully Boy fame) Bunty Aur Babli 2 were all slated for a June release, but there is no saying yet when these films will see the light of day.
