MOVIE REVIEW: Tadap
Tadap
Starring: Ahan Shetty, Tara Sutaria, Saurabh Shukla
Director: Milan Luthria
Music Director: Pritam
Suneil Shetty’s son, debutant Ahan has a pretty intense screen presence and Tara Sutaria looks lovely but is that enough to keep you hooked to this film touted as an incredible love story? Well, no. At least, not in the sluggish first half, which unfolds like the usual rich girlpoor boy romance. It’s only post-interval that things start moving at a frenetic pace with dramatic twists and turns, culminating in the unexpected climax.
This remake of a successful Telugu film RX 100, which was based on a true incident, has shades of the blockbuster Kabir Singh. Ishana (Ahan) plays an obsessed lover but ironically, pulls off the action scenes with more ease than the emotional ones. The guy, though, does show promise and potential in his first film and given the right script, could rise well up the way to stardom. Tara Sutaria is only improving with each movie she does.
The ever-dependable Saurabh Shukla and Kumud Mishra bring some gravitas into the narrative. Music by Pritam is hummable and the camera lovingly captures Mussoorie in all its glory.
Despite all this, the movie feels outdated and, worse, fails to stir up your emotions, thanks to the generic writing. That’s the worst thing one can say about a love story!
