Sandeep aur Pinky Faraar

You don’t go with very high expectations from this one, but it manages to surprise you, beginning with its title. You see, Sandeep here is Parineeti Chopra and Pinky is Arjun Kapoor! Though far from perfect—the pacing is problematic and the writing is erratic at times—the film has an undertone of dark humor that gives it a unique timbre.
The story is about an unlikely twosome on the run— a hotshot banker, Sandy Walia (Parineeti Chopra) and a cop from Haryana, Satinder ‘Pinky’ Dahiya (Arjun Kapoor)—who are forced to become allies in a seemingly impossible situation.
Among the supporting cast, the elderly couple, played by the ever-dependable Neena Gupta and Raghubir Yadav, lend the film a distinct flavor and they are so good that you want to see more of them. Arjun Kapoor is suitably gruff and grim as the drifter (but you really have to strain to hear what he is saying). It is Parineeti, actually, who has been given an author-backed role and she doesn’t disappoint. The actress seems to have got her rhythm back.
A bonus are the visuals of Pithoragarh in Uttarakhand, the mountains and rivers providing sweet relief after months of lockdown. Then there is a nice background score by the director himself.
