Malang: Unleash the Madness
Starring: Anil Kapoor, Aditya Roy Kapur, Disha Patani, Kunal Khemmu
Director: Mohit Suri
Music Directors: Mithoon, Ankit Tiwari, Asim Azhar, Ved Sharma, The Fusion Project
What could have been a crackling thriller turns out to be, at most, a watchable revenge drama, which is a pity really because the performances are good and the camerawork stunning. Also, though there are two twists in the tale, they aren’t as big a surprise as they should have been.
Malang begins well with a power-packed action scene. It then goes into flashback mode full of Advait (Aditya Roy Kapur) and Sara’s (Dish Patani) beach-swept romance in Goa! Five years down the lines, Advait has become a killing machine and has two Inspectors, Anjaaney Agashe (Anil Kapoor) and Michael Rodrigues (Kunal Khemmu) hot on his trail. Things actually pick up only in the second half, which is pretty slick.
Clearly, Anil Kapoor is having a great time playing the cocaine-snorting cop here. The underrated Kunal Khemmu as the seemingly righteous officer has some interesting moments, especially in the scenes with his wife, played by the ever dependable Amruta Khanvilkar.
Aditya Roy Kapur is impressive and gets ample opportunity to flex his muscles. What’s more, he shares a great onscreen chemistry with Disha Patani, who flaunts her perfectly toned body to the hilt. Together they set the screen afire.
