MOVIE REVIEW: Fateh

Sikandar Ka Muqaddar
Starring: Sonu Sood, Jacqueline Fernandez, Naseeruddin Shah
Director: Sonu Sood
Music Directors: Yo Yo Honey Singh, John Stewart Eduri, Hans Zimmer
Unabashedly and relentlessly violent, this action thriller is actor Sonu Sood’s directorial debut. If you are able to bear the carnage that the hero Fateh Singh (Sonu Sood himself) unleashes throughout the film, you might just find it watchable. It deals with cyber-crime, the bane of our times.
The bad guys are played with finesse by the seasoned Naseeruddin Shah and Vijay Raaz, with Raaz’s sly humor providing moments of relief in an otherwise dark plot. Playing an ethical hacker Khushi Sharma, Jacqueline Fernandez is a revelation, and it's refreshing that the film avoids unnecessary romantic distractions. The other girl is Simran Kaur (Shiv Jyoti Rajput), and it’s because of her that the hero goes on a killing spree.
As for the hero Sonu Sood, the actor who has mostly been seen in supporting roles is a one-man army here. He delivers a no-frills performance, letting his bloody deeds do most of the talking.
Fans of action films would love the stunts here, which have been shot by Italian cinematographer Vincenzo Condorelli. But
was there a need to show such raw violence on screen to raise awareness about the far-reaching influence of cyber-crimes?
