Desi flavor at Cannes this year

Sonam Kapoor’s shimmering gold saree and huge nose-ring, and jury member Vidya Balan’s lehenga and dupatta lent a decidedly desi flavor to Cannes this year. The other Bollywood stars who walked the red carpet at the French Riviera were Aishwarya Rai Bachchan (who received bouquets as well as brickbats for her sartorial sense), first-timer Ameesha Patel, and Nandita Das, who kept a low profile but drew admiring glances from everyone for her Kanjeevaram sarees. Nandita was on the short films jury. Of course, Mallika Sherawat and Freida Pinto were there, too.
