Georgia Indo American Chamber of Commerce (GIACC) has been organizing Covid-19 Series Webinars to help businesses address key emerging issues during the pandemic. The virtual seminars address a wide range of topics from the business impact of Covid-19, to medical updates and workplace integration.

Covid-19 and Impact on U.S., India, Trade and More (April 2020)
This GIACC Webinar had an expert panel of speakers that are working on the front lines with companies in both India and the U.S. during this unprecedented crisis. The topics discussed included Impact on the U.S. and Indian Economies, trade/transactions between the two countries, tax relief, loans, credits and other aid being provided by the Indian and American governments to small and mid-size entities. The panelists for this discussion included Anil Khatod, Managing Partner, Argonaut Private Equity, Atlanta; Uday Ved, India Tax Partner, KNAV P.A. Mumbai; Kirtan Patel, Founding Partner, KPPB LAW Atlanta; and Shishir Lagu, U.S Tax Partner, KNAV P.A. Mumbai/Atlanta. This session was moderated by Sonjui L. Kumar, GIACC Board Member & Founding Partner of KPPB LAW.
U.S. and India - The Impact on Immigration, Travel. and Tourism (May 2020)
This webinar covered the impact of US Presidential Proclamation of April 23, 2020; USCIS (US Citizenship and Immigration Services) flexibilities due to Covid-19; impact on H-1B and L-1 workers and employers; use and validity of visa holders and OCI cards; scope of India lockdown and travel; Government of India policies regarding employees, employers, and salaries; and Covid-19 impact on Indo-US Tourism. The notable speakers and moderators for this event were Anita Ninan, Founder & Principal Attorney, Ninan Legal LLC; Poorvi Chothani, Founder & Managing Partner, LawQuest; Pabs Raghava, CEO Tours Limited; Shailesh Lakhtakia, Consul (Political & Consular), Consulate General of India, Atlanta. The session was moderated by S.K. Raj, Vice President, Forar Tech, LLC.
Medical Updates and Workplace Integration: A Cross Border Perspective (June 2020)
An eminent panel of speakers and senior physicians namely Dr. Piyush R. Johari, MD, Psychiatry; Dr. Siva P Sivakumar, MD, FACP, FCCP, General Pulmonary & Critical Care Medicine, Pleural Disease; Julie John, HR Manager, Lambton Conveyor Limited; and Maurice King Rane, HR Manager, Precision Diecast, Inc. ON, Canada discussed short and long-term impact of Covid-19 treatments and vaccines on the human body. They also discussed CDC guidelines on safe workplace integration; its impact on mental health; and issues like PTSD, anxiety, and depression. The session was moderated by David Gault, Past President & Board Member, GIACC.
PPP Program: Forgiveness, Accounting, Tax and Legal Implications (July 2020)
In this session the guest speakers Yatin Gandhi, Sr VP& CFO Encore Enterprises; Kirtan Patel, Partner KPPB Law; Atul Deshmukh, Partner, KNAV Law; and Shishir Lagu, Partner, KNAV Law discussed accounting guidance for forgivable Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) loans and calculating PPP loan forgiveness, tax considerations for PPP Program forgiveness, legal aspects of the loan forgiveness and application, and continuing SBA guidance with special focus on PP with respect to foreign-owned entities. The session was moderated by Sonjui Kumar, Founding Partner KPPB Law.
