Vibha, a non-profit and volunteer-driven organization working towards impacting the lives of underprivileged children, organized “The Paramount Software Solutions Dream Mile X 2020,” a virtual fundraiser raising more than $410,000. The organization has pledged to donate 10% of the proceeds from this event to support children’s educational and health needs across the USA via non-profit organizations such as Children’s HealthCare of Atlanta (CHOA), InspiredU in Atlanta, Schools on Wheels of Massahcusetts, and Communities in Schools of Chicago.

DM X was initially planned as a U.S. based in-person annual DM in a few cities where Vibha is active, along with a quarterly or half-yearly virtual event. But as pandemic struck, Dream Mile (DM), Vibha’s annual flagship fundraising event, turned virtual due to the pandemic. It finally became a global month-long event for September 2020. The event had more than 4,400 participants from four continents, 13 countries, and 38 U.S. states.
Alka Mukker, Rahul Pandey, Ritesh Mathur, Vaishnavi Pattabiraman, and Vindali Vartak were part of the core group of volunteers from Atlanta, Bay Area, and Dallas that initiated and implemented various aspects of the event. They coordinated with sub-teams led by Tripura Vadlamani (Fundraising), Malika Wadhwani (Publicity), Narayana Rekapalli (Sponsorship), and Rekha Savant (T-shirts and Medals).
Some of the other key volunteers who played a significant role in the success of this event were Durgesh Das, Keyur Shah, Raj Vuchatu, Rama Vemulapalli, Ruchi Dave, Srinivas Vemulapalli, and Vijay Vemulapalli.
With a dual goal of improving the fitness while supporting a great cause, the DM X eventcomprised of month-long challenges (100M, 50M, 100KM, 50KM, 5K/10K/15K/20K steps per day), single- day challenges (1KM, 5KM, 10KM, half/full marathon), and single-day relay challenges (25KM, 50M, 100M by a team of 4/ 8/ 10 members). The 50M month-long challenge was the most popular followed by 5KM single day challenge and 5K steps a day month-long challenge.
Due to the distress caused by September wildfires in western States of U.S., the event deadline was extended to October 10 to allow for additional time to the participants from the affected states to complete their respective challenges. According to the activities data reported by 1,230 participants, together they had completed 81.5 million steps, 46,500 m, and 11,200 km of walking and running.
