UK based Indian Beer Brand Launches in Georgia
Cobra Beer Inc. USA, a subsidiary of Cobra Beer UK, has announced the launch of Krait, Cobra Beer's export brand, in Georgia. Krait will be distributed in Georgia by Savannah Distributing and will be available at local bars, several Indian restaurants, and supermarkets.
Originally brewed in Bangalore, Cobra is a UK based beer brand that was started by Karan Bilimoria. In 1989, at the young age of 29, Bilimoria decided that there was a market for a crisp lager that would appeal to ale drinkers and would be a better accompaniment to food than the "harsh, gassy, Eurofizz beers," that make for poor partners to food. The company's growth has kept up with the founder's mission—to brew the finest ever Indian beer that would be recognized as a global brand. With a growth rate of 42% in the last decade, Cobra is one of the fastest growing beer brands in the UK; it exports to more than 35 countries and has subsidiaries in India, South Africa and the U.S.
"We are extremely excited about Krait's entry into Georgia. It is a significant step in our growing worldwide operations as a global beer brand," said Bilimoria. Cobra beer has won two Grand Gold Medals and nine Gold Medals at the 2005 Monde Selection, Brussels - World Selection of Quality.
Krait is being brewed at Poland's Browar Belgia, part of Belgium's Palm Breweries. As Poland's fourth-largest brewery with state-of-the-art facilities, Browar Belgia has been brewing Cobra for the worldwide and export markets in both bottles and cans.
