TAMA’s Seminar on Financial Planning & Taxes answered many questions
A seminar on financial planning and taxes was organized by the Telugu Association of Metro Atlanta (TAMA) on March 2, 2019 at DeSana Middle School in Alpharetta. About 200 attendees took advantage of this informative seminar presented by Mr. Hariprasad Salian from My Tax Filer.
Viju Chiluveru, from TAMA’s Board of Directors, kicked off the session with a welcome and explained TAMA’s activities. He introduced the Executive Committee members led by President Venky Gadde, and the Board of Directors led by Chairman Vinay Maddineni to the attendees along with the presenter Hariprasad.
Hariprasad began with new tax law changes introduced by U.S. President Donald Trump last year, especially standard versus itemized deductions. Later he explained international tax compliance, how to bring funds legally from India, tax cuts, impact of the jobs act, cryptocurrency reporting, and finally due diligence required from tax payers. He explained implications and benefits very clearly in laymen’s terms. During the break, snacks and tea were served. Many questions with complex scenarios were answered in the concluding Q&A session.
The seminar was well received and appreciated by the audience, especially for organizing since tax filing season is around the corner. Chairman Vinay Maddineni noted that these seminars have been helping the community to understand the intricate details of filing taxes and to benefit from the savings. He described TAMA’s other events catering to all ages and walks of life: sports, seminars, women's programs, cultural and literary meets, etc. President Venky Gadde felicitated Hariprasad with a shawl for presenting a very informative seminar within short notice, and thanked the audience and TV Asia.
