The Telugu Association of Metro Atlanta (TAMA) celebrated India’s 70th Republic Day in a grand way on Saturday, January 26, 2019 at DeSana Middle School in Alpharetta, where the weekly Telugu Manabadi classes are conducted. Despite the cold weather, more than 500 kids, adults, and teachers joined the celebrations along with the TAMA Executive Committee and Board of Directors.

TAMA President Venky Gadde kicked the event off with a welcome. Chairman Vinay Maddineni greeted Manabadi coordinator Vijay Ravilla and other teachers with flower bouquets. Mr. Vijay took the honor and hoisted the tricolor flag high with patriotic fervor. Everyone sang patriotic songs along with the national anthem, and saluted the Indian flag with respect and love for the mother country, India.
Mr. Vijay spoke about the reason for celebrating India's Republic Day and its importance. Many people were reminded of their childhood days and celebrations in their schools. Everyone felt happy that TAMA is continuing this tradition and involving the children in it.
Families also took the opportunity for a memorable photo!
Kids were gifted with goody bags, and snacks were served for adults. In his closing remarks and vote of thanks, president Venky Gadde thanked Atlanta Food Distributors for sponsoring snacks, fellow TAMA Executive Committee and Board Members, Manabadi coordinators, teachers, volunteers, and attendees for making it a memorable event.
