Swami Sarvapriyananda Expounds on Vedanta at Spiritual Retreat
The Vedanta Center of Atlanta organized a twoday spiritual retreat on Ashtavakra Samhita by Swami Sarvapriyanandaji at Doubletree Hilton Hotel in Tucker on July 8th and 9th. The Swami, who belongs to Ramakrishna order, is the head of Vedanta Society of New York. He speaks extensively on Advaita Vedanta and has several YouTube videos with a great following.
Advaita is one of the traditions of Vedanta, which is about non-dualism–of oneness, one consciousness. At this two-day retreat Swamiji expounded on Ashtavakra Samhita, by taking up verses from chapter 15 at length and explained the very hard to understand concept of non-dualism in an easier way by telling stories and giving several references that everyone can relate to. The audience of spiritual seekers were all engrossed and deeply engaged in Swamiji’s teachings throughout the retreat.
The retreat was designed in six well-managed sessions allowing ample time for Q & A in each session. Swamiji answered questions in a way that not only catered to the individual that asked the question but also to many others in the audience who may not have had an opportunity to ask the same or similar question due to time constraints.

On both the days, the hall was packed with spiritual seekers from early morning till late in the evening. The entry to the event was free but the audience donated very generously towards the cost of the retreat and the mission of the Vedanta Centers. The entire talk can be accessed via the Vedanta Center of Atlanta’s YouTube channel, set up conveniently in a 6-part playlist. Vedantacenterofatlanta.org
