Shiva Temple To Be Built In Norcross
A temple with 108 statues of Lord Shiva is all set for construction in Norcross, Ga. The project is conceived by the Hindu Temple and Community Center of Georgia Inc., a charitable organization, presided over by California based Sri Sri Selvam "Siddhar" who goes by the title of Dr. Commander Selvam. The Center has acquired 10 acres of land and a 45,000 square foot church that stands on the property from the Christ Fellowship Church of Georgia.
According to the press release, the project is estimated to cost $20 million, $5 million of which has been donated by Sri Selvam as attested by the release. According to Sri Selvam, this will be the only temple in the world to house 108 unique forms of Shiva. It will also be the first in the U.S. to house the planets Guru (Jupiter) and Shani (Saturn). It will include several Hindu deities such as Jagan Mohini, Pratiyankara, Soolini, Gubchika Devi, Neeli, Channdi and Akora Bhairavi.
The temple is managed by a board of directors comprising Dr. Ramki Srinivasan, Seenu Reddy, Alagappan Muthuraman, Alagu Vairavan, Parvathi Sivanadiyan, Lalitha Reddy, Dr.Varadharajan Ravindran, Dr. Brar, Dr.Kalyani Annamalai, Chokalingam Chokalingam, Alagappan Krishnappan, Veeriah Muthukrishnan, Murugappan Ramanathan, Meenesh and Annapoorani Chokalingam.
