Seva Adult Care announces new center at Global Mall
Seva Adult Care was founded in January 2017 by Poonam Datta who had always dreamt of serving the seniors in her community. She had carried a strong vision to create a place where seniors could come, be cared for, and be happy. Having seen first-hand how challenges in the senior citizen community have affected their health and happiness, she has been inspired to bring about change. With a master’s degree in Electrical Engineering from Georgia Tech, Datta worked for multinational companies for 21 years, finally quitting her corporate career to pursue her true dream.
When the facility was started four years ago, Datta and her colleagues could not have imagined that they would outgrow their old facility. However, this past year with the pandemic has been unimaginably tough. They were one of the first facilities to transition to telehealth. They began running five hour zoom sessions, five days a week for seniors. They delivered groceries and ran activities virtually such as yoga, exercise, meditation and bingo. The Seva team worked hard to keep the seniors engaged and active while they were at home. They also helped their members get vaccinated.
At Seva, they strive to get seniors overcome their adversities and bring the community together. They are working to promote wellness, health and happiness for all. Their services include transportation; nutritious meals; programs and activities including yoga, meditation, exercise, field trips, music, and entertainment; wellness and health programs with full-time nursing staff; and home care.
