Service Where it is Needed the Most
Organized by Dr Sujata Reddy and sponsored by TAMA (Telugu Assoc. of Metro Atlanta), a Health Fair was held on October 11, 2003 at the Impact Conference Center in Global Mall, to commemorate Mahatma Gandhi at the time of his birth Anniversary (Oct 2nd).
This free health fair provided a much needed opportunity for the uninsured as well as others to avail themselves of the cost prohibitive but very basic medical services. The Fair also provided medical screenings such as EKGs and diabetes testing, and made available specialists for face to face consultations.
Over 300, including seniors and young children from all communities and nationalities benefited from the health fair. Close to 20 nurses and 40 physicians of various specialties provided their valuable service. Free breakfast and refreshments were provided to all. Besides drug companies, some of the supporters/sponsors of the fair were: Udipi Caf, Cumming Family Medicine, Medical Center of Middle Georgia, Macon, and Sanjay Patel of Impact Center. With this being the 4th such health fair organized this year by Dr Reddy, she is setting a benchmark for social service. Gandhi foundation of USA recently recognized her efforts and presented an award in appreciation of her exemplary service to the community in the medical field.
