Run/walk “In Defense of Animals”
The raffle and trophy table was a hub of activity.
Many charity “Run/Walk” events here benefit children and other causes in India, which is, of course, most laudable—but one recent run/walk was to benefit our “other children”—our animals!
They're off! The Run In Defense of Animals begins.
Dogs participated with their owners in both the run and the walk.
The 3rd annual “Run/Walk In Defense of Animals” was held on 15th September 2012 at St. Marlo Country Club. There was a great turnout, and it was so touching to see so many participants, including our Indian community, show up in the early morning to run or walk to support our four-legged friends. Every penny goes to help animals thru IDA (In Defense of Animals), including projects for stray, abused, and abandoned animals in India. All costs associated with this event are borne by Sarita Raturi, who is on the board of IDA India as well as GARP (Georgia Animal Rights and Protection), another nonprofit dedicated to the abolition of animal exploitation and suffering.

There was space for exhibits, information, fun, and learning.
In Defense of Animals is a 501c3 charity committed to protecting the rights, welfare, and habitats of animals. Headquartered in San Rafael, California, it has spread its wings internationally and now we have IDA India and IDA Africa, too!
