Rhythms of India—A showcase of eminent dance academies of Atlanta

India American Cultural Association (IACA) organized Rhythms of India on July 10, 2022 at Berkmer School Auditorium in Lilburn.

A unique program that showcased how dance is an expression of life, it featured many different dance forms—Indian classical dance, semi classical dance set to the beat of thumri theka/taal, devotional dances set to bhajan theka that were performed by the devdasis in the temples in south and east India, beautiful folk dances from different regions of India, the tribal dances with a typical beat played on nagaada, or Baul dance from Bengal on the rhythm of ektara.

Twelve eminent dance academies of Atlanta such as Kalashram USA, Nritya Natya Kala Bharati, Bharatha Darshan, and Noopur Dance Academy participated in this ninety-minute program which was a spectacular amalgamation of different beats from different regions of India weaved into a colorful garland of dance.

A spectacular show that had attracted a houseful of audience, the program was directed by Geetanjali Talukdar along with Dr. Paddy Sharma, IACA cochair, and other members of IACA.
