Record Fund-Raising at TAMA Silver Jubilee
With its silver jubilee year in 2006, the Telugu Association of Metro Atlanta (TAMA) began preparations for year-long celebrations with a fund-raiser. The TAMA fund-raising lunch was held in Norcross, Ga., on Dec. 18, and it helped raise more than $60,000, which was the target for the organization.
TAMA, which had been at the forefront of other major events for sister organizations such as the Telugu Association of North America and the American Telugu Association, is hoping to organize another major event. Its 2006 executive committee has used community inputs to devise an event every month, with the big event slated for Sept. 2 and 3, 2005.
According to Bala Indurti, president of TAMA, the event was a success thanks to the efforts of Dr. Jaganmohan Rao, other members of the fund-raising committee, and the community at large.
