Rajyothsava Celebrated by Kannadigas
Nrupathunga Kannada Koota in Atlanta celebrated "Rajyothsava" at the The Hindu Temple of Atlanta on Saturday November 11.2005. It was 59 years ago, in 1956, Karnataka state was formed based on linguistics.
Nearly 40 children participated in the entertainment program, which started with an invocation. Nearly 300 people packed the auditorium. Kannada patriotic song was sung by children from ages 6 through 10. This was a remarkable achievement since pronouncing Kannada words to the English speaking children and singing with appropriate "tala" is a tremendous task.
The attractive costume and dance to the tune of a song "Chitari Hakki" was fascinating.
The Bharathanatyam and group music by members of the Koota enthralled the audience.
A special dance performed to the music of Dr. Rajkumar was the highlight of the program. Children decked in costumes of ‘aadivaasis' welcomed the goddess of forest with color and pageantry.
The cultural events were choreographed and directed by Prakash Ramachandraiah, Vishwanath Rajashekar, and Lalitha Gowda. Catered dinner was arranged and program ended with Indian national anthem.
