Pujari Atlanta organized Durga Puja 2020
Pujari Atlanta, a nonprofit formed in 1986 to foster understanding between the people of Bengali origin and Americans, organized a virtual Durga Puja in the times of the pandemic. Enjoying the patronage of most Bengali families in metropolitan Atlanta, Tennessee, Florida, Alabama, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Arkansas, the organization organized Durga Puja this year while trying to keep every volunteer and member safe.

Pujari executive committee leadership decided that Durga Puja would be performed in a private venue with a scaled down format and minimum volunteer presence. They also decided to livestream specific portions of the Puja. Volunteers pitched in with shopping and cooking for Durga Puja, as well as helping with performing the Puja in the new format.
On the auspicious day of Astami-Navami which fell on October 24, minimal number of volunteers gathered for the Puja. Aarati and Anjali were live streamed so that the Pujari members could participate and offer their prayers from the safety of their homes. This was followed by Bisarjan as the event got wrapped up.
