Priyobangla Magazine Celebrates 1st Anniversary
Around 500 audience members joined in celebrating the 1st anniversary milestone of Priyobangla Magazine on May 20, 2006 at Berkmar High School auditorium. Mr. Mahfuzur Rahman and Mrs. Rita Aly, emceed the event which was based on authentic folk music from Bangladesh.
������ The program began with a dance to a popular folk song. The Chief Guest of the ceremony was Mr. Sheikh Mohammed Belal, the Political Counselor from Bangladesh Embassy of USA. Special guests who gave speeches included, Mr. Tom Fricano, vice president of Gwinnett Chamber of Commerce, Mr. Anis Ahmed, broadcaster & web editor from Voice of America, Mr. Jashim Uddin, president of Bangladesh Association of Georgia, and Mr. Arefin Babul, the secretary of Bangladesh Association of Georgia.
Recipients of the the Priyobangla Community Awards were: "Shurlohori", Best Bangladeshi Organization; "Panahar", Best Bangladeshi owned Business; and Mr. Asif Jalil, Pride of Georgia.
��������� The piece de resistance of the cultural show was the music performance named "Journey of Life" – (Jiban Ganger Naia). Mr. Anis Ahmed wrote and narrated the theme with Mrs. Aly. The well coordinated chorus performance was a hit with the audience. Mr. Romel Syed on guitar, Mr. Rajib Hussain on the synthesizer, and Mr. Tapan Modak on the tabla, accompanied the Bangladeshi folk songs which enthralled the audience. NTV & ATN Bangla, two New York based television channels, taped the show. The editor of Priyobangla Magazine, Mr. Sohel Ahmed, thanked the sponsors, audience members and the readers for making the event successful.
