Kannada Koota Celebrates 30th Anniversary
Nrupathunga Kannada Koota celebrated its 30th anniversary on September 6th at the Southern Polytechnic University. Nearly 500 people attended the cultural program, which included 3 dramas, group music and several group dances. About 100 children, from ages 3 to 15, presented some interesting episodes from Indian epics and folklore. The decorations, exhibits and costumes created a festive atmosphere, reflecting the true cultural heritage of the Kannadigas. Dr. G.V. Raghu, president of the Hindu Temple of Atlanta, released a colorful 30th anniversary magazine, Chiguru, written in the Kannada language using Baraha fonts. The magazine was put together by Mr. Ashwath Belavadi.
Kannada Koota honored Dr. H.N. Ramaswamy and his wife, Indira Ramaswamy, and it also recognized the contributions of Dr. Jayanthi Srinivasiah. NKK, established in 1973, is one of the oldest Indian organizations in 1973. More information can be found at www.atlantakannada.org.
