Indian Tennis Team Wins Championship in Atlanta
A tennis team from Dunwoody, GA comprising primarily of Indian American players, bagged the USTA 3.5 City Championship in Atlanta, played at the DeKalb Tennis Center. By all accounts, this is the first such team of Indian players in Atlanta to achieve a city championship. Remarkably, they did it on their first try. It's exciting to note that the team will represent Atlanta in Georgia State Finals.
About four years ago, these players who are all software consultants started playing informally after work at the Dunwoody Park Apartments. Soon, they were participating in friendly matches against other teams. Now, these determined players who don't have a coach are aiming for the National Championship Trophy! The list of team members includes Rajeev Kumar, Raghu Pani, Vijay Kumar, Thiru Reddy, Saravanam Pillai, Prashant Parekh, Madhav Ramamurthy, Lakshman Rao, Kumar Pani, Ashok Pani, Robert Storment, and Senthil Srinivasan.
