On Saturday September 10, 2011, the Hyderabad Association of Atlanta (HAA) gathered to celebrate the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr at Zyka Restaurant in Decatur.
This event was organized by the Working Committee of the HAA. A diverse crowd of over 400 people from all age groups dressed in traditional clothing had the opportunity to meet friends, rekindle old relationships, indulge in a traditional Hyderabadi dinner, and enjoy a fun-filled entertainment lineup.
The evening’s program began with a welcome by Dr. Mohammed Moiz Mumtaz of Alpharetta who offered thanks to the leadership of the previous administrations of the HAA. Mr. Jeddy Khader of Duluth gave an insightful presentation on the history of Hyderabad.
Dr. Nizamuddin Khaja concluded the program with a fascinating slideshow highlighting the old Hyderabad and the new. Mr. Azher Mehmood entertained the group with a live music performance. The crowd feasted on traditional food such as Hyderabadi Biryani and traditional Mughal dishes from the region.
