Georgia Girl Claims Coveted Crown
Sixteen-year-old Movina Nagarajan was crowned Raza.com Miss Teen India USA 2004 at a beauty pageant organized by S.R. International Inc. in Skokie, Illinois. The extravaganza included well-choreographed song and dance performances and a showing of latest fashion trends. Georgia's 17-year-old Vandana Aggarwal danced her way to clinch the Miss Talented title.
Beauty and brains quite literally set Movina apart from the thirty-seven contestants vying for the crown. She sashayed gracefully for the formal wear elegance round to make it to the final six. Talking to Khabar, Movina confessed, "I was most nervous about the question I would have to answer. I had control over everything else but that question." A two-time Miss Teen India Georgia runner-up, she is versed with thinking smart on her heels. When questioned about her preference between beauty and brains in the intellect round, she answered, "Brains are important... while beauty is skin-deep." Poise and confidence appear to be family traits for the Nagarajan women. Movina's sister Mehgna is a former Miss India Georgia and Miss India USA. Movina aspires to participate in the Miss Georgia and Miss USA contests. "I have to be seventeen to enter," says Movina with bated breath.
