Bhat Foundation awards scholarships to students
Bhat Foundation hosted a scholarship event on July 28 at Eagles Landing Country Club in Stockbridge.
Bhat Foundation is a nonprofit established in 2019 to promote education, healthcare, and community nonprofit activities, and to provide other community services.
The chief guests were the Consul General of India in Atlanta, Ramesh Babu Lakshmanan, and Henry County Commissioner, Neat Robinson.
Scholarships were given to graduating high school students from the Henry County School system who are committed to pursuing a medical career. Scholarships were also given to high school students from the Karnataka community.
Scholarship applications were adjudged by entrepreneur Karen Sullivan; Police Sergeant Nick Roberts; Commissioner for Georgia Student Finance Commission, Dr. NarasimhuluNeelagaru; and entrepreneur Pramod Sajja.
The students who received the Anu and Subra Bhat Henry County Scholarships are Aparna Ganesan, Jenna Collins, and Janea Hudson.
The Late Shankari and Late NarasimhaiyaMuteri Scholarships, formed in the memory of Dr. Anu Bhat’s parents, were awarded to Advath Avinash, Abhishek Nandeshwar, Vikhyat Arun, and Sumith Hebbar. Applications for this scholarship were submitted by students through Nrupatunga Kannada Koota.
Bhat Foundation also awarded a donation to Arts Clayton, a community organization in Jonesboro, for its mission of supporting arts education for students at all levels. Bhat Foundation also awarded Lifetime Achievement Awards to two community leaders, Dr. Thomas Hynes and Dr. NarasimhuluNeelagaru, for their outstanding community contributions and other achievements. Senior Associate Dean Kathryn Graves from Emory University also gave a Proclamation Letter honoring Bhat Foundation Scholarship endowment. Bhat Foundation continues to donate to major causes throughout the year.
