Berkmar High School & Pujari–a community-focused collaboration
Joyjit Mukherjee and Dr. Sonia Nandi present a donation from Pujari to Berkmar High School principal Al Taylor.
Pujari, a nonprofit socio-cultural organization of immigrant Bengalis, not only organizes cultural events to help the next generation retain their South Asian heritage, but also engages in volunteer activities as service to the larger community. Berkmar High School in Lilburn, Georgia is Pujari’s preferred venue for its events, and over the last few years, Pujari has been partnering with Berkmar, donating to help support different causes in the school to help students achieve their goals.
Recently Pujari board members Dr. Sonia (Sudeshna) Nandi and Joyjit Mukherjee met Berkmar’s Principal, Mr. Al Taylor, to discuss working more closely with the school. New initiatives discussed include Pujari members volunteering to mentor students, provide opportunities to participate in cultural experiences, present or consult during the formation of school academic programs, etc. Pujari also presented a donation for the school to Mr. Taylor.
