Aviation Day organized by Telugu association
On February 11, the Telugu Association of Metro Atlanta (TAMA), in keeping with its youth focus for the year 2023, organized the first-ever STEM Aviation Day at Augusta Flight School. The school was started five years ago by an aviation enthusiast couple, Samta Shetty and Nandi Shetty.

Despite the three-hour drive from Atlanta, many middle and high schoolers participated passionately. All families assembled at the flight school around 1:30 pm. TAMA President Sai Ram Karumanchi welcomed everyone. Nandi explained different aspects of aviation, careers, and opportunities. Chief guest T. R. Reddy, a well-known entrepreneur and humanitarian, spoke of how youth can contribute towards creating a better society and shared his inspiring experiences and life stories. He was felicitated by TAMA Technology Secretary, Suneel Devarapalli, and Nandi.
Nandi explained the pilot’s experiences and the relevance of STEM in the aviation industry. Building and launching paper planes was a well-received activity. The session on women in aviation and STEM careers by Samta was thought-provoking.
Young participants and their families enjoyed TAMA STEM Aviation Day.
Snacks and beverages were provided for all. Students were given an aviation book for reference. The TAMA team felicitated Nandi and Samta. Parents thanked TAMA for a lovely experience and requested to have more such informative and beneficial tours. Karumanchi mentioned that TAMA and Augusta flight school will work more collaboratively in the future, and thanked and appreciated Samta and Nandi for providing this great opportunity. Devarapalli thanked all parents and students for availing this fabulous field trip.
