Tanvi Chauhan and Supriya Christopher of Visit Savannah received national honors at the Public Relations Society of America’s 2026 Woman of Impact Awards. Christopher received the Woman of Impact Award for the Travel and Tourism industry, while Chauhan received the Woman of Impact Award for Rising Star, recognizing a top communications professional early in their career. They were recognized on August 6 during the PRSA Women of Impact Summit & Awards in Chicago.
The Public Relations Society of America (PRSA), a leading professional organization serving the communications industry, established the awards to recognize women whose leadership, innovation, and influence strengthen organizations, advance the profession, and create opportunities for others.
Supriya Christopher
Christopher is director of public relations for Visit Savannah, the official destination marketing organization for Savannah and Tybee Island. A senior communications executive with three decades of experience in strategic public and media relations, she began her career in broadcast journalism as a news anchor for USA Today and ABC News.
At Visit Savannah, Christopher has built an award-winning earned-media strategy that has helped position Savannah as a top-ranked U.S. travel destination. Under her leadership, Savannah has received national and international coverage and recognition from outlets including Good Morning America, Travel + Leisure, Garden & Gun, Southern Living, and The New York Times.
Christopher holds a bachelor’s degree in communications from Seton Hall University and a master’s degree in media writing from Johns Hopkins University. Commissioned as an officer in the U.S. Army Signal Corps, she was also among the first female U.S. Army paratroopers.
Tanvi Chauhan
Chauhan is communications manager at Visit Savannah, where she supports media relations, destination storytelling, and strategic communications, helping connect journalists with the people, places, and experiences that distinguish Savannah and Tybee Island.
Born in India and raised in Zimbabwe, Chauhan brings an international perspective to her work. She is also a published author and a graduate of Leadership Savannah and serves on a mayor-appointed Savannah city board focused on international relations. She has also been named a finalist for two additional national awards this year, with the winners expected to be announced in October.
