Special Olympics Georgia has named Rohan Kapur its Athlete of the Year, recognizing his two decades of dedication, athletic excellence, and leadership within the organization. Kapur has competed in eight sports and earned nearly 100 medals across disciplines including track, long-distance walking, powerlifting, bowling, golf, basketball, flag football and soccer.

A highlight of his career came in 2018, when he represented Georgia at the Special Olympics USA Games and won a bronze medal in Unified Soccer. Beyond competition, Kapur has been an active leader and mentor, participating in Law Enforcement Torch Run events with the Johns Creek Police Department, coaching fellow athletes, and serving as a leader for the Special K’s Long Distance Running Club.
Kapur’s resilience has also stood out. After sustaining a back injury at the 2024 Summer Games, he returned to competition later that year and won a gold medal in golf at the Fall Games in Valdosta. Special Olympics Georgia praised his perseverance, sportsmanship and positive spirit, noting that his impact extends well beyond medals to inspiring athletes across the state.
