Priti Bandi on TIME100 Health list

Atlanta resident and public health leader Dr. Priti Bandi has been named to the TIME100 Health list by Time magazine. As the Scientific Director of Cancer Risk Factors and Screening Surveillance Research at the American Cancer Society, she leads national research on cancer risk factors and screening trends across the U.S. In a landmark study published last year, Dr. Bandi and her team found that screening all eligible U.S. adults for lung cancer could prevent more than 62,000 deaths over five years, according to Time. Despite effective tools, lung cancer screening rates remain among the lowest of major cancers. Her work centers on generating science-based evidence to inform cancer policy and expand early detection. Born and raised in Hyderabad, India, she earned her bachelor’s in biomedical engineering from Osmania University, her master’s from the University of Wisconsin–Madison, and her PhD in public health from New York University. Her work includes more than 50 peer-reviewed articles and three book chapters.
