Atlanta-based author Parul Kapur has won the Interlochen’s Pattis Family Foundation Creative Arts Book Award for Inside the Mirror, her debut novel. As the winner of this award, which recognizes the best literature in the creative arts field, Kapur will receive the $25,000 cash prize, conduct a multi-day residency at Interlochen Arts Academy, and take part in a public event moderated by New York Times bestselling author Doug Stanton as part of Traverse City’s National Writers Series. In 2025, Kapur bagged the Georgia Author of the Year Award in the First Novel category. She also won the AWP Prize for the Novel, among other honors. Born in Assam, India, and raised in the U.S., Kapur holds an MFA from Columbia University.
