GOOD SPORTS: THEEGALA’S TEAM BEATS TIGER’S TEAM IN TGL FINAL

Professional golfer Sahith Theegala took home a large check from the second season of TGL (TMRW Golf League), as he and his three teammates split the $9 million first-place prize money. Theegala, Justin Rose, Tommy Fleetwood, and Collin Morikawa, playing for Los Angeles Golf Club, beat Jupiter Links Golf Club 2-0 in the best-of-three finals series at the SoFi Center in Los Angeles. The Jupiter Links team was led by Tiger Woods, competing for the first time in more than a year.

Theegala did not have a great showing overall in the finals, but made a clutch birdie putt on the 9th hole that helped propel his team to victory. “One of the best parts of my game is rebounding from those bad shots,” he said. “I look at it as an opportunity to do something cool. A lot of the times the coolest moments are when you’re in trouble or in jail and you’re able to escape it.”

TGL, a golf league created by TMRW Sports, combines traditional golf play with elements of simulated indoor golf. The six-team league, which includes the Atlanta Drive Golf Club, will add a seventh team in Detroit next year.
