Writers’ Forum and Urdu Library hosted a well-attended literary evening on April 26 celebrating the launch of Dr. Qaiser Mukhtar’s two books, Almost Light and Grammar of Daughters.

Almost Light, a collection of poetry, explores themes of love, memory, resilience, longing, and self-discovery through reflective verses marked by emotional clarity and restraint. Grammar of Daughters, a collection of interconnected vignettes, examines the subtle ways daughters are shaped by family, culture, silence, sacrifice, and everyday moments within South Asian households.
The session featured reviews and reflections by Sadaf Farooqui, Kamran Khimani, Dr. Shahid Rafique, Dr. Farzana Bharmal, and Inam M. Inamullah, who discussed the emotional depth, cultural resonance, and literary style of the books.

The evening concluded with a Q&A session moderated by Inamullah, with active audience participation. Several attendees shared how deeply they related to the stories and poems, reflecting on parallels within their own families, memories, and lived experiences.
Organizers said the event evolved beyond a traditional book launch into a broader conversation about memory, identity, family, migration, and the emotional landscape of everyday life.
The program drew an enthusiastic audience, and the full event has since been posted on YouTube, allowing a wider audience to engage with the discussion surrounding the books and their themes.
