!st Sunday of the month Literature Series with Franklin Abbott
Waller's Coffee Shop is not only a coffee shop but a very cozy listening room. They do have great coffee, offer vegan and non-vegan dinner options and a $5 corkage fee if you byob. We had a great Stonewall reading featuring Connie Tuttle, Young Hughley, Megan Volpert and Rico Revels. We had a full and lively house and thanks to streaming over the Waller's Facebook Page, 650 viewers from afar. Waller's management team and I colluded on creating a monthly Lit Nite, an evening of literature and frivolity. Please join us in person or online. Come for dinner around 6 and stay for the show. Our first Lit Nite features Slam Siren Theresa Davis performing her poetry, novelist Soniah Kamal reading from her much acclaimed new novel Unmarriageable (Jane Austen in Pakistan), raconteur and poet of the masses Rupert Fike will share new work and celebrating August literary birthdays, Rev. Duncan Teague channeling James Baldwin, Luis Alvarez reading Isabelle Allende en Espanol and English, Jef Blocker impersonating Ogden Nash and Professor Janet Metzger reading aloud from the Julia Child oeuvre . I, Franklin Abbott, am your humble host. Be there in person if you can. Mix and mingle. Authors will have books for sale and signing. And if you can't be there in person this event will be streamed live on the Waller's Coffeeshop Facebook page beginning at 6:30. Please share with friends far and wide.
