Aaj Ka Dhamaka is an annual intercollegiate dance competition held by UNC Sangam, the South Asian Awareness Organization at UNC Chapel Hill. AKD draws Bhangra, Raas, and Fusion teams from across the country to compete in a show like no other. This year, the show will be on January 23rd, 2016 in the beautiful Memorial Hall at the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill! AKD attracts crowds over a thousand each year, and we are extremely excited to once again host the show on Carolina's campus. We hope that you will join us on January 23rd to view one of the biggest dance competitions on the east coast!
All proceeds from Aaj Ka Dhamaka benefit the UNC Mahatma Gandhi Fellowship (MGF)! The Fellowship awards two scholarships up to $3,000 to two returning UNC-Chapel Hill students to implement a civil service project of their own design to benefit the South Asian community, either locally or abroad. Through the strong work and achievements of Sangam, its members, and its successful fundraising and outreach events such as Aaj Ka Dhamaka, progress continues to be made as the organization works to raise $125,000 for a self-sustainable endowment fund for this Fellowship to continue into the future.
